Ameek Kiran Batth, MHC-LP
Associate Psychotherapist | She/Her/Hers
When a goal, role, or identity has shaped so much of your life, an unexpected change can leave you wondering who you are without it. The pressure to keep moving forward may continue even as you are grieving what changed, adjusting to new limits, or trying to imagine a future that looks different from the one you had planned.
Hi, I’m Ameek. I support people navigating performance pressure, major transitions, identity shifts, anxiety, burnout, and the emotional impact of having to redefine themselves. Drawing from my own experience as a Division I athlete, I understand how deeply achievement, discipline, and belonging can become intertwined with your sense of self. Together, we can honor what has been lost, recognize the strengths that remain, and begin building a life and identity that are not defined by one role or outcome.
*Ameek is currently accepting new clients and clinically supervised by Samah Nanda, LMHC-D.
How I Understand the Work
I believe healing begins through a felt sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship. When you feel supported enough to slow down, it can become easier to notice the emotions, expectations, and patterns that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others.
My approach is integrative and relational, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, somatic work, mindfulness, and attachment-informed perspectives. Together, we may explore how achievement, culture, family, relationships, and major life experiences have influenced your sense of identity and self-worth. We can also begin separating who you are from the roles, goals, or expectations that may have come to define you, while making space for new ways of understanding yourself and moving forward.
What Therapy With Me Feels Like
My style is warm, curious, and collaborative. I understand how easy it can be to tie your sense of worth to performance, progress, or the role you have worked hard to become. In therapy, you do not have to prove yourself, push through, or know exactly what comes next.
Together, we can make space for the grief, uncertainty, and identity shifts that can come when life no longer follows the path you expected. We will also explore the strengths that have carried you forward, while helping you reconnect with the parts of yourself that exist beyond achievement. My hope is that our work helps you develop greater self-compassion, trust your own voice, and build a life that feels meaningful even when it looks different from what you once imagined.

A little about me
-
Growing up, I wanted to become a professional tennis player, with my Division I athletic career as a stepping stone towards that goal. Unexpectedly, in my junior year of college, I underwent ACL surgery, which forced me to deeply reflect on my life and reconsider my career path. That period made me realize how powerful the mind is in shaping our experiences (athletic, professional, or personal) and how stigmatized mental health still is in our society, especially within South Asian cultures. That insight, paired with my own mental health experiences, led me toward becoming a therapist someone my younger self could be deeply proud of.

Hearing each individual's unique story and witnessing their resilience. I love learning how each person thinks and relates to life, and my favorite moments are when something resonates with a client and shifts the way they see things. There's a quiet, almost still moment when that insight lands. It may seem small, but it truly is significant. I appreciate getting to witness it. Even the smallest steps, in the grand scheme of things, create ripple effects of positive, meaningful change.

I love the Danish concept of "hygge", which relates to creating an environment of warmth, coziness, and contentment. Lately, that's looked like turning on soft yellow lighting in my room, playing light handpan frequency music, making myself a frothy coffee, and curling up with a book or coloring digitally on my iPad. These small, comforting rituals bring a peaceful, soothing touch to my day.

I deeply enjoy nature walks. Watching the wind move through the leaves, feeling the breeze -- whether cool or warm, the warmth of sunlight, and simply noticing the small joys of being alive. That, along with talking to my loved ones and sharing a good laugh over random topics, always reminds me of how much there is to be grateful for. Beyond that, engaging in meditation, somatic movements, creative journaling, decorating my space, and cooking (plus always being up for trying new bakeries in NYC) helps me feel connected to myself.
